Librera1.com
The new Librera1 — a reader for the books you already have. Open an EPUB, PDF, FB2, MOBI or CBZ, and read it on whichever device is to hand — the page you stopped on, the passages you marked and the places you named follow you between them.
New, and built new: Librera1 is a fresh start from the maker of the original Librera Reader — one reader, written once, for the phone, the desktop, the browser and the editor, with your books and your marks the same in all of them.
What it does
- Reads what you own. Books come from your own files — dragged onto the window, chosen from your machine, or taken from a folder on your Google Drive. There is no shop and no catalogue.
- Keeps your place, everywhere. Where you got to, your highlights and underlines, your bookmarks and your shelves are the same on the phone, the desktop and the browser, as soon as you sign in.
- Leaves the typography to the book. A book is laid out as its own designer meant it, so it looks like itself. What you choose is the page: one column or two, its width, the margin, the text size, the reading theme, and one of three typefaces.
- Stores your books on your device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you ask for it.
- Marks up ten passages a book, free. Every book you own can hold ten notes and ten marks without paying anything. Premium lifts both limits.
- Reads without a signal. Once a book is on the device it opens with no network at all.
Version 1.0.23, the same in each of them.
Download
The web version is ready now and needs no installation — it runs in this browser, works offline once loaded, and keeps your books on this device.
Every version the reader is planned for is listed above, whichever one you are reading this in. Android is on Google Play; the APK beside it is the same app, from GitHub, for devices without Play. The desktop is downloaded from GitHub rather than from a store, which is why it opens a releases page. iOS is in open beta: the link opens TestFlight, Apple's app for trying releases before the App Store — install it, tap the link again, and the reader is yours.

Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 August 2026
This policy explains what information Librera1 collects when you use our applications and website (together, the "Service"), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to every version of the Service: the web app, the Android, iOS and desktop applications, the browser extension and the Visual Studio Code plugin.
The Service is offered free of charge and is supported by advertising. We also use analytics and crash reporting to understand how the Service is used and to fix what is broken in it. These are being introduced as the Service moves from testing towards general release: where the version you are using does not yet include one of them, nothing described for it is collected.
Your books
Books stay on the device you added them to. In the browser they are held in that browser's own storage, together with their covers; in the applications they are files in the app's own storage. They are not uploaded to us, and we do not read, index or scan their contents.
A book leaves your device only when you ask it to: choosing Synchronize uploads that book, and a cover for it, to a folder called LibreraBooks in your own Google Drive. It is your Drive, your folder and your file; we keep no copy.
Information we collect
Account information. Signing in is optional and the reader works without an account. If you do sign in with Google, we receive what Google gives an application: your account identifier, your email address, your display name and your account picture. There is no password — authentication is Google's, and we never see one.
Reading data. If you are signed in, the following is stored under your account identifier on Google's cloud services so that it reaches your other devices:
- where you have got to in each book, and when that was recorded;
- your highlights and underlines — their position, their colour, the text they cover and the chapter it is in;
- your bookmarks, and any name you gave them;
- whether you marked a book a favourite, finished, or one to read;
- when each book was last opened, which is what "Reading now" means across devices;
- an identifier for each book, made from its file name and size.
Device, log and usage information. When you use the Service we and our providers may collect the device model and operating system, the version of the app, the browser type and language, time zone and country, IP address, crash reports and diagnostic data, and events describing how the Service is used — screens opened, features used, and whether an advertisement was shown, seen or selected. Where this is combined with an identifier it is treated as personal information under this policy.
Advertising and measurement identifiers. Advertising in the Service uses the identifiers the platform provides for that purpose: the Android advertising ID, Apple's identifier for advertisers (where you have allowed it), and cookies or similar storage on the web. These identifiers are resettable and are under your control; see Your choices about advertising below.
Messages you send us. If you write to us we keep your message and address for as long as it takes to answer it and to keep a record of what was asked.
Information stored on your device
- your books and their covers, in the storage the browser or the app keeps for them;
- your reading settings — layout, page width, theme, font, text size, margin, cover size and sort order — which belong to that device and are not synchronised;
- a Google access token for Drive, so that connecting need not be asked for on every visit. It expires within the hour and is discarded when it does, and when you sign out;
- cookies and similar storage used for advertising and analytics, as described below, and a record of the choices you have made about them.
Clearing your browser's data for this site, or uninstalling the app, removes all of it, including the books.
Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, to remember your settings, to measure how the Service is used, and to select, deliver and measure advertising. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, anything not necessary to provide the Service is used only with your consent, asked for in the app, and you may change or withdraw that consent at any time.
How we use information
- to provide the Service — opening your books, keeping your place, and synchronising your reading data between your devices;
- to keep the Service secure and to prevent abuse, fraud and invalid advertising traffic;
- to diagnose faults and improve the Service, through analytics and crash reporting;
- to select, deliver, cap and measure advertising, including personalised advertising where you have allowed it;
- to answer you when you write to us;
- to comply with the law and to enforce our Terms and Conditions.
Advertising
The Service is supported by advertising supplied by third-party advertising partners. Advertisements may be personalised — selected using information about your device and your use of this and other apps and sites — or non-personalised, selected using little more than the content on screen and your approximate location and language. Where the law requires your consent for personalised advertising, you will be asked for it, and non-personalised advertising is shown if you decline.
Our advertising and measurement partners act as independent controllers of the information they collect through the Service, under their own privacy policies, and may combine it with information they hold from other sources. They are named under Third parties we work with below.
Your choices about advertising
- In the app. Where a consent or advertising setting is offered, it can be changed at any time in the app's settings.
- Android. Settings → Google → Ads lets you delete your advertising ID or opt out of personalised advertising.
- iOS. Personalised advertising uses Apple's identifier for advertisers only if you allow it when asked; you can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Web. Your browser's settings control cookies, and Google Ad Settings controls personalisation on Google's services.
- By writing to us. Send your request to librera.reader@gmail.com and we will act on it.
What we do not do
The contents of your books, your highlights, your notes and your bookmarks are not used to select advertising and are never shared with advertising partners. We do not sell your books or their contents. We do not knowingly show personalised advertising to children.
How we share information
- Service providers who run the Service for us — hosting, authentication, databases, analytics and crash reporting — acting on our instructions;
- Advertising and measurement partners, as described under Advertising;
- Legal and safety: where we must comply with the law, respond to a lawful request, or protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or ourselves;
- A business transfer: if the Service is sold, merged or reorganised, information may pass to the acquirer under this policy, and you will be told;
- With your consent, for anything else.
Sharing information with advertising partners for personalised advertising may be a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some United States state privacy laws. You may opt out at any time through the choices listed above, or by writing to us with the words Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
Google sign-in and Google Drive
Drive access is asked for under the narrowest permission Google offers (the "drive.file" scope). It covers only the files the app itself created, and files you hand it yourself through Google's own picker. The rest of your Drive is invisible to us, and remains so.
Librera1's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Information obtained through Google sign-in and the Google Drive API is used only to provide the reading features described here. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never transferred to anyone except as necessary to provide those features, for security, or to comply with the law.
Legal bases (EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland)
- Performance of a contract — providing the Service, your account and the synchronisation of your reading data;
- Consent — personalised advertising, and any non-essential cookies, analytics or similar technologies;
- Legitimate interests — keeping the Service secure, preventing abuse and invalid advertising traffic, measuring and improving the Service, and showing non-personalised advertising to fund it;
- Legal obligation — where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
How long we keep information
Your account and reading data are kept while your account exists, and are deleted within 30 days of a deletion request, except where the law requires otherwise. Analytics and advertising records are kept for no longer than 14 months, and diagnostic logs for no longer than 90 days, unless a security investigation requires them for longer. Removing a book from a device does not remove its marks from the cloud, so that reinstalling finds them where you left them.
International transfers
The Service runs on infrastructure operated by Google, and information may be processed in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws differ from those where you live. Where information is transferred out of the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, it is protected by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable form, to withdraw a consent you have given, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of personalised advertising. We do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal effects.
To exercise any of these, write to librera.reader@gmail.com from the address you signed in with. We answer within 30 days. You may also authorise someone to act for you, and you may complain to your local data protection authority. Books you placed in your own Drive folder are yours to delete, from within the app or from Drive itself.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them or show them personalised advertising. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Information is held on Google's infrastructure, in transit over encrypted connections, and reachable only under your own account. No service can promise perfect security, and you should keep your own copies of books and anything else you would mind losing.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe to Librera1 Premium, the purchase is made in Google Play or the App Store and is handled by RevenueCat, which manages subscriptions on our behalf. We never see or hold your card, your bank details or your billing address — those go to the store and to nobody else.
What reaches us is the fact of a subscription: which plan, whether it is active, when it renews or lapsed, the store it came from, and an identifier for the device or account it belongs to. That identifier is your Librera1 account id where you are signed in, which is what lets a subscription bought on your phone unlock your desktop. Whether you are subscribed is also written into your own account data, next to your reading positions, so that devices which cannot ask the store can still answer the question. If you are not signed in, the subscription stays on the device that bought it and is restored through the store.
RevenueCat's processing is governed by RevenueCat's privacy policy, and the store's by Google's or Apple's. Nothing about which books you read, or what you marked in them, is sent to any of them.
Third parties we work with
Google, for hosting the Service, for signing you in, for storing your reading data, for Drive, and for advertising, analytics and crash reporting (Google AdMob and Google AdSense / Ad Manager, Google Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics). Their processing is governed by Google's privacy policy. RevenueCat, Google Play and the App Store, for subscriptions, as described above. This list is kept current; if we add a partner, this policy changes with it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Material changes are announced in the Service before they take effect, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again.

Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 13 August 2026
Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Librera ("we", "us") governing your use of the Librera1 applications and website (the "Service"). By using the Service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old, or 16 where local law sets that age, to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.
What the Service is
Librera1 is a reader for books you already have. It distributes no books and operates no shop or catalogue. You supply your own files, and you are responsible for having the right to hold and read them. Nothing here grants you any right to any book.
Your account
Signing in is optional and is done through Google. You are responsible for the security of the Google account you use and for activity under your account. You may stop using the Service at any time and ask for your data to be deleted, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Your books and your content
Your books, your highlights, your bookmarks and your notes remain yours. We claim no ownership of them, and no book you add is inspected or read by us. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the Service for you: to store your reading data, to synchronise it between your devices, and to display it back to you. That permission ends when you delete the data or your account.
Advertising
The Service is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising. By using it you accept that advertisements may be shown, and that they are selected, delivered and measured as described in the Privacy Policy. Advertisements are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for the goods, services or content they lead to. You may not remove, obscure, block within the Service, click fraudulently on, or otherwise interfere with advertising or with the measurement of it.
Paid features
The reader is free to use. Librera1 Premium is an optional subscription that lifts the free limits of ten notes and ten marks per book, described in full under Librera1 Premium. It is offered monthly at US$2.99 and yearly at US$29.99; the store shows the price in your currency before you buy, and that price is the one charged. There is no one-off purchase: the subscription pays for a service — the storage and synchronisation of your reading data — that costs us money for as long as it runs.
Purchases are made through the app store you bought them from — Google Play or the App Store — under that store's terms, or in the browser through Paddle, our merchant of record, under Paddle's. Billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled by whoever took the payment — the store, or Paddle — as the refund policy sets out. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and are cancelled in the same store at least 24 hours before the next renewal; cancelling leaves the subscription running to the end of the period already paid for.
A subscription is attached to your Librera1 account, so it unlocks every device you sign in to, including ones that cannot sell it. Prices may change; a change is shown in the app and, for a running subscription, takes effect only after the store has told you and you have accepted it. Ending a subscription never removes marks you have already made — they stay on every device, and only adding new ones beyond the free limits stops.
Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to break the law, to infringe anyone's copyright, to distribute material you have no right to, or to attack, overload, probe or interfere with the Service or with anybody else's use of it. Do not reverse engineer, resell or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it, except to the extent the law expressly permits. Accounts used in these ways may be suspended or ended without notice.
Test versions
Versions marked as being tested are provided so that they can be tried. They change often, may be unstable, and may lose reading data — your highlights, bookmarks and reading positions — between versions. Do not rely on a test version as the only record of anything you value.
Intellectual property
The Service, its software, design and name are ours or our licensors', and are protected by copyright and other laws. The Service includes open-source components, which are used under their own licences; those licences govern those components, and their texts are included with the Service.
Reporting infringement
We host no books, but if you believe the Service or anything in it infringes your rights, write to librera.reader@gmail.com with enough detail to identify the material and your rights in it, and we will act on it.
Third-party services
Google's services and our advertising and analytics partners are used as described in the Privacy Policy, and their own terms govern their services. We are not responsible for third-party services or for sites the Service links to.
Availability and changes
The Service may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn, and features may be added or removed. We may change these terms; material changes are announced in the Service before they take effect, and continuing to use it afterwards is acceptance of them. You should not treat the Service as the only copy of anything you value — keep your own copies of your books.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if it is necessary to protect the Service or its users, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination your reading data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy; the books on your own devices and in your own Drive folder remain yours.
Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow such exclusions, and in those places this paragraph applies only so far as the law permits.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost data or lost profits, or for any loss arising from the use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and US$50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, and nothing in these terms affects the statutory rights of consumers.
Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your use of the Service in breach of these terms or of anyone's rights, including any claim concerning a file you added.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts of Ukraine have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings there.
If you obtained the app from Apple
These terms are between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the Service or its contents. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the application fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for product liability claims, claims that the application fails to conform to a legal requirement, or claims under consumer protection or similar legislation, nor for the investigation, defence or settlement of any third-party claim that the application infringes intellectual property rights. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any United States list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
If you obtained the app from Google Play or another store
These terms are between you and us. The store is not a party to them and is not responsible for the Service; the store's own terms also apply to your download and any purchase made through it.
General
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the Service. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.

Refund Policy
Where you bought the subscription decides who refunds it — every route is listed here, and none of them costs you your marks.
Bought in the app on Android or iOS — through Google Play or the App Store: refunds are the store's to give, under its own policy, requested from the store directly. Google Play refunds are asked for in Play's order history; App Store refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund a payment those stores took.
Bought in the browser — the checkout is operated by Paddle, our merchant of record: Paddle takes the payment and Paddle gives the refund. Ask through the link in your receipt email, through paddle.net, or write to us at librera.reader@gmail.com and we will raise it with Paddle for you. Refund requests within 14 days of a purchase or an unwanted renewal are honoured.
Cancelling is not a refund and needs no one's permission: cancel any time, wherever you bought it, and the subscription runs to the end of the period already paid for.
Whatever happens to the payment, nothing you have made is taken away: a refunded or lapsed subscription leaves every bookmark and note where it is, and only adding new ones beyond the free limits stops.
Delete your account
You can delete your Librera1 account and everything stored with it at any time, from any version of the app or from this page:
This signs you in if you are not already, asks once more, and then deletes the account and what it holds on our side, straight away: your reading positions, notes and bookmarks, the record of which books you have, and your subscription record with RevenueCat. This cannot be undone. Your subscription itself is managed by Google Play or the App Store — cancel it there, or it will continue to renew. The books you placed in your own Google Drive folder are not ours and are not touched; delete them from the app or from Drive whenever you like. We keep nothing afterwards except what the law requires us to, such as purchase records.
Prefer not to delete the account? Signing out in the app keeps your marks in the account and removes them from the device. If you cannot sign in to do it yourself, write to librera.reader@gmail.com from the address you signed in with and we do it within 30 days.
